Multi-Layered Landscape

The Multilayered Landscapes" is an art creation based on imagery captured along the high-speed rail line. The high-speed rail represents a longitudinal cross-section of Taiwan, offering a comprehensive view of the urban landscape. Motivated by this, the artist utilized 3D software to construct a virtual image installation. He recombined the recorded Taiwanese landscape footage within the installation using image processing software, accelerating the individualization, three-dimensionality, stylization, and subtle distortions of residential structures, symbolizing people's desires for spatial occupation. Abstract and deformed landforms further symbolize the impact of civilization and land pollution. The 2D footage is reconfigured into a 3D representation, revealing the metaphysical essence beyond surface appearances. The 3D virtual image installation itself becomes a virtual and imaginative portrayal of Taiwan's spatial landscape. In the final part of the video, the artist subtly reference the poem "Dian Zai Tou" by local poet Wu Sheng, offering their own interpretation of Taiwan's landscapes. The work is divided into three sections: the opening and closing sections present the operational trajectory of the 3D virtual image installation, while the middle section features a visual contrast created through the reproduction of images using the 3D virtual image installation. The presentation employs multiple projections to simultaneously showcase different scenes, emphasizing the contrasting aspects of reality, virtuality, and reproduction.
